filmspielplatz.de is a free film education platform aimed at children, daycare centers, schools and families. It is a joint project of DFF – Deutsches Filminstitut & Filmmuseum, Frankfurt am Main, and Deutsche Kinemathek – Museum für Film und Fernsehen, Berlin.
Filmspielplatz („film playground“) adds to the digital education offerings of DFF and Deutsche Kinemathek. The platform encourages children to watch selected short films of different genres as well as newly produced instructional tutorials on how to make their own movies. Inspired by this, they then become active themselves and engage creatively with what they have seen. Some of the films are available barrier-free (with audio description or in German Sign Language) and in multiple languages.
Due to legal issues, some content of filmspielplatz.de is only available in the countries of Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Nevertheless, this site provides the possibility to watch selected tutorials („Erklärfilme“) and short film packages („Kurzfilme“).
The content is in German language only.
